Mohammedan look to bounce back with new recruits

Mohammedan Sporting Club after a long took the spotlight of the players’ transfer market of the Bangladesh Premier League football with signing up four new foreign booters and a trainer eyeing to fight for the championship.    

One of the traditional football clubs of the country turned into a mediocre side from a giant struggling just to maintain a place at the middle of the points table for a long.    

Once title aspirants might be want to forget probably the worst most time they had in their 86 years history in 2014-2015 season, as they were under relegation threat and finally finished on 10th out of 12 teams league.

Mohammedan could not taste the championship of the league since the professional arena began here since 2007-08 season but this time looking forward to fight for the title and outset to make it success.

To form a formidable team, Mohammedan conducted to purchase players timely during transfer period and completed their players transfer deal and have also started training camp when they however, worked and could best preserve contractual stability in right time. 

Mohammedan first of all confirmed Malian striker Diabate, a proven outstanding striker in the league with scoring highest 21 goals last season and club believe he can continue his development this time also. 

Diabate has superb attributes to complement the other players and Mohammedan believe they did exciting signing ahead of the upcoming season with signing up an attacking midfielder of Venezuela, a center defender for Uzbekistan, an Iranian defensive midfielder along with Bosnian born German trainer.

Shafiqul Islam Manik returned as head coach with former national star Alfaz Ahmed appointed as his deputy, Saeed Hassan Kanon as goalkeeper coach and Imtiaz Ahmed Nakib remained as manager of the Club.

Newly recruited foreign players have already joined Diabate, who outshined the star players like Brazilian Robson Robinho of Bashundhara Kings, Dorielton and Daniel Colindres of Abahani Limited to be the highest scorer.   

Abu Hassan Chowdhury Prince, secretary of the football committee of Mohammedan, informed Bangladesh Post on Saturday that this time they are eyeing to the championship and formed team on that target.

“To be honest, Mohammedan have been struggling for a long but this time we set our target to fight for the championship and trying to form a strong side we signed up five foreign players and a trainer,” said Prince. 

About the players quality team manager Imtiaz Ahmed Nakib is hopeful that the players are good enough but they would need to adjust with the condition of Bangladesh.

“This time we have a good combination of young and experienced and inclusion of new foreign booters we have strong side to fight for the championship,” said one of the best former strikers of the country. 

“Actually, in practice it looked they have quality but we will get the real picture after playing a match. It’s also depends on the players’ adjustment with the condition of Bangladesh. Apart from Soleymnae Diabate rest of four are first time here, might be it will take time to familiar with the atmosphere of Bangladesh,” Nakib told the Bangladesh Post.
