Mobile sale of milk, egg and meat to keep the market price stable

The Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock has taken special initiative to sell milk, eggs and meat at affordable prices to keep the market price stable during Ramadan, said Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim. The Minister made the remarks while speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural function of mobile sale of milk, eggs and meat at affordable prices during Ramadan at the Department of Livestock Services premises at Farmgate in the capital on Sunday, joining the programme virtually from his official residence.

He said, “This programme will be carried out till 28th Ramadan in 10 places of the capital Dhaka. Initially, the mobile sale will be available in Abdul Gani Road adjacent to the Secretariat, Khamarbari, Japan Garden City, Mirpur 60 Feet Road, Azimpur Maternity Hospital, Nayabazar of Old Dhaka, Arambagh, Notun Bazar, Kalshi of Mirpur and Jatrabari area.”

The Minister mentioned that the aim of this initiative is to increase supply of meat, milk and eggs and keep market prices stable during the month of Ramadan while keeping the supply chain active. The Minister further said, “Pasturized liquid milk will be sold at Tk 60 per liter, beef at Tk 550 per kg, mutton at Tk 800 per kg, dressed broiler at Tk 200 per kg and eggs will be sold at Tk 30 per four pieces at the mobile sales centres. 

Healthy environment will be ensured in the transport used as it is the constitutional responsibility to deliver safe food to the people.”

SM Rezaul Karim further said that all the activities of this mobile sale will be monitored regularly by the Ministry. 

The Minister also said that no one has taken steps to sell milk, eggs and meat at low prices before. 

“The government's goal is to ensure that not a single person suffers in the month of Ramadan,” he added. 

He urged the concerned people to refrain from making more profit at this time.

Director General of the Department of Livestock Services Dr Monjur Mohammad Shahjada presided over the programme.

Secretary of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock Mohammad Yamin Chowdhury was present as the special guest during this time.
