A mobile court sealed five illegal sawmills at Purba Dagari village in Gazipur on Thursday morning.
Rabeya Parvez, Assistant Commissioner (Land) of Gazipur Sadar conducted the mobile court.
Md Mostafizur Rahman, Forest Officer of BK Bari Office under Bhawal Range told that those saw mills were running without license. Sazal Husain, Aminul Islam, Korban Ali, Anwar Mondol and Sahanur of the village, proprietors of the sawmills were noticed to close their sawmills due to illegality. However, they continued their business for many days.
The drive was conducted in coordination of forest officials and Ansar members. During the drive Range Officer of Bhawal Range Khandoker Ariful Islam, forest officer Mostafizur Rahman were present.
At that, time timbers and wheels with machinery for cutting wood were seized from the sawmills. Anwar Husain Mondol, one of the proprietor of the sawmill was fined five thousands taka by the court.
