Sathia (Pabna) Correspondent: A mobile court was conducted at Dhulauri Bazaar in Sathia, Pabna, with the assistance of CAB. On Friday morning, October 31, 2025, around 10 AM, Executive Magistrate and Assistant Commissioner (Land) Asif Rayhan conducted this mobile court in response to allegations of excessive toll collection at the market.
At that time, a fine of Tk 10,000 was imposed on Shri Dam Mithanna Bhandar in Dhulauri Bazaar for storing stale and rotten sweets.
When the mobile court team visited the onion wholesalers in the market, it was found that instead of 40 kg (1 maund), the wholesalers were taking 41 to 42 kg of onions from the farmers. They were doing the same with garlic. At the fish shops, it was seen that they were charging Tk 300 instead of Tk 225. At the grocery shops, they were taking Tk 100 instead of Tk 10. In each case, excessive market tolls were being collected. Upon seeing the mobile court in operation, farmers and general customers confirmed the overcharging. CAB and the Executive Magistrate team warned the market wholesalers and gave them a chance to correct themselves for the time being. Meanwhile, upon seeing the mobile court, unscrupulous traders shut down their shops and fled.
Among those present at the time were Sathia Upazila CAB President Jainul Abedin Rana, General Secretary Mehedul Islam, and others.
