Mobile court conducts drive in Ctg to conserve mother hilsa

A mobile court was conducted at Akmal Ali Ghat, Kathgor and the estuary in the coastal area of the Bay of Bengal adjacent to Chattogram metropolitan area on Tuesday under the ‘Mother Hilsa Conservation Operation-2024.’

Various types of fishnets were seized at that time.

The drive was led by Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate of Chattogram district administration, Md Israfil Jahan, with the assistance of Chattogram district administration, Department of Fisheries and Bangladesh Navy.

Deputy Secretary of Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock Md Arman Haider, Deputy Director of Chattogram divisional Department of Fisheries Md Anwar Hossain, District Fisheries Officer Shrivas Chandra Chand, Fisheries Survey Officer Md Mahabobur Rahman, Halda Project Director Mizanur Rahman and representatives of Bangladesh Navy were present at that time.

District Fisheries Officer Shrivas Chandra Chand said under the ‘Mother Hilsa Conservation Operation-2024,’ the district administration and Department of Fisheries conducted a mobile court at Akmal Ali Ghat, Kathgar and the estuary in the coastal areas of Bay of Bengal to ensure the proper spawning and sustainable harvesting of fish. During this operation, 13 nets of various types were seized. The confiscated nets were subsequently burned and destroyed. The district administration announced that this operation will continue in the interest of the public.
