The body of a HSC examinee who went missing in the sea while taking a bath in Cox’s Bazar sea beach was recovered on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Athah Nur Kaif, 18, son of Bashir Uddin Mahmud, resident of Bhalukia Palong area under Ratnapalong union in Ukhiya upazila of Cox’s Bazar.
He was attending this year’s HSC examination from science section of Cox’s Bazar DC College.
The body was recovered from Kolatoli point of Cox’s Bazar sea beach on Saturday morning. His relatives found his body.
It was learnt that Athar Nur Kaif went to take a bath in Kolatoi point of Cox’s Bazar sea beach along with his cousin and a friend of his cousin on Friday morning.
However, he was washed away by the sea wave at one point. When the other two, who were with him, screamed for help, the local life guard went to rescue him.
However, the life guard was unable to find him.
His family said Kaif’s namaj-e-janaja was held on Saturday at 8:30am at Cox’s Bazar Hashemiya Madrasa and later a second namaj-e-janaja was held at 11:00am at his house in his village.
