The body of a student, who went missing while taking bath in Piyain river in Jaflong of Sylhet on Friday, was recovered on Saturday morning. The deceased was identified as Akikur Rahman Anik, 20, son of Dola Miah of Nabiganj upazila in Habiganj. He had used to live at Ambarkhana in Sylhet city and a second year student of Economics Department of Sylhet MC College.
A team of divers of Fire Service and Civil Defence recovered his body from the river at about 11:00 am. The body was sent to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
Abdul Aziz, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gowainghat Police Station, confirmed the matter. Anik along with his seven friends went to visit tourist hotspot Jaflong on Friday morning and went missing while taking bath at about 2:00 pm.
