Missing boy’s body recovered in Cox’s Bazar

The body of a school going student was recovered four and half hours after he went missing while taking bath in Cox’s Bazar sea beach on Monday.

The deceased was identified as Mohammad Asmain, 13, son of Karimul Haque, resident of Dakkhin Rumaliarchora in Cox’s Bazar town. He is a sixth grade student in Cox’s Bazar Vocational Institute.

The body was recovered from Samitipara sea beach point in Cox’s Bazar town at around 1:30pm on Monday, said Superintendent of Police of Tourist Police Cox’s Bazar region Al Asad Md Mahfuzul Islam.

Md Mahfuzul Islam said that Mohammad Asmain went swimming in the sea at the Shaibal Point with five friends. At one point, three of them were swept away by the current. Local lifeguards rushed to rescue them. They rescued two in a critical condition, but one remained missing.

Later, locals spotted a body floating near the Samiti Para point of the beach. On information, authorities arrived and recovered his lifeless body.
