Miscreants vandalise, loot Bharasar Bazaar in Burichang

A terrorist attack took place at Bharasar Bazar in Cumilla's  Burichang upazila on Thursday afternoon. During this time, the miscreants attacking several shops in the market looted and vandalized them. Several rounds of bullets were also fired during the clashes.

Mahbubur Rahman Sumon, GS of the market, said a group of terrorists came with 50/60 motorcycles in the presence of UP chairman Alhaj Sirajul Islam at the Bazar in Sholanol union of Burichang upazila at around 5 pm.

They raided a rod-cement shop called Mofiz Traders in Bazar and the private office of Billal Hossain, former chairman of the same union and organizing secretary of Burichang Upazila Jubo League unit.

When the terrorists fired 4/5 rounds of blank shots to create panic, the shopkeepers left the shops for fear of their lives and went outside. The terrorists then vandalized Mofiz Traders and looted Tk 7 lakh in cash. 

Upon receiving the news of the incident, people from nearby villages came and joined the traders and resisted the terrorists while at one point they fled. 

 Officer-in-charge of Burichang Police Station Mozammel Haque said police were present at the spot to control the situation and no case was filled in this regard yet.
