Ministry orders universities to release certificates promptly

Graduates from private universities find themselves hindered in pursuing higher education abroad due to the unavailability of their original certificates. Despite initiating the process, university authorities insist on withholding them until convocation, leaving students in a frustrating limbo.

This bureaucratic entanglement is a common plight for many private university graduates nationwide.

In response, the Ministry of Education emphasizes that holding certificates without convocation lacks legal basis. Universities are directed not to prolong the release of certificates for undergraduate and postgraduate students awaiting convocation, as highlighted in a recent ministry announcement on Facebook.

Regular convocation ceremonies at private universities are often disrupted by political barriers, leaving thousands of graduates uneasy. Private university ownership disputes, leadership vacancies, and noncompliance with regulations exacerbate these delays. Efforts to resolve the issue face resistance from university officials, who refrain from commenting without higher authorization. An anonymous source from a private university in Bashundhara reveals verbal directives against releasing certificates without convocation, though exceptions may be considered for special cases. There's a pressing need for a prompt resolution to ensure equitable access to educational credentials for private university graduates.
