Chattogram City Corporation Mayor Rezaul Karim Chowdhury said, it is time to set up metro rail in Chittagong city. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has taken various projects for the development of Chattogram. Placing Metrorail in the project is a landmark step.
CCC mayor called upon the delegation to carry out the survey work with emphasis on setting up underground rail lines in the Metrorail’s, keeping the beauty of the city intact and identifying densely populated areas.
He said, we have to build public and environment friendly public transport system in Chattogram city. There are roads, flyovers, overpasses, bridges, tunnels. Our main objective is to facilitate the movement of people by coordinating with them. In the future, overpopulation will increase in many parts of the city. For this, the public transport system has to be strengthened from now on. There is no alternative to make the port city of Chattogram liveable. He asked the delegation to prepare a profile of the survey of Metrorail construction in Chattogram and assured to take appropriate action after submitting the survey.
He said this while meeting a delegation of Chinese CRCC-19 and WITC JV Metrorail in the City Mayor's Office at Nagar Bhaban of Chattogram City Corporation on Wednesday morning.
Chinese delegation leader Hu Chau said, we have a long working experience with the internationally recognized company Metrorail. We have already started the survey of Chattogram Metrorail.
They sought the cooperation of the mayor in conducting the survey. The mayor assured them of his full support.
