Earlier reports indicated that this goal would be immortalized through a groundbreaking collaboration with artist Refik Anadol. Anadol is one of the leading figures in 21st-century art, using data to redefine the boundaries between art and technology.
The artwork will be co-signed by Messi and Anadol, and will later be auctioned at Christie's, with the proceeds going to charity.
The goal itself, scored in Rome on May 27, 2009, sealed the fate of the Champions League final, with Messi's header securing a 2-0 victory following an opening goal by Samuel Eto'o.
