Abdul Matin Mollah (70), a mentally-retarded person drowned when he jumped into the water of the river Baronoi at Akhpara village under Singra upazila of Natore district Monday night around 8-30 p.m.
Local people failed to recover the body of drowned Abdul Matin. Later, the Divers team members from the Fire Service and Civil Defense Deptt of Rajshahi recovered the dead body from the river around 9-40 a.m. Tuesday.
It is learnt, Abdul Matin Mollah son of late Khlail Mollah was a farmer. He lost his mental balance after an accident in last June. On Monday night, he jumped into the river Baranoi from the Mosque ghat near his house. Hundreds of people of the village tried to rescue him but failed to detect his body in the water.
Later, on Tuesday morning a divers’ team from the Fire Service and Civil Defence Department arrived from Rajshahi and recovered the body of Abdul Matin from deep inside the river water. Headed by the Divers’ Team leader Jakir Hossain, diver Jewel Rana assisted by divers Ripon and Khorsed, recovered the body of Abdul Matin from the deep inside water at 9-40 a.m. after searching for about one hour.
