A mentally unsound girl was violated by an ayurvedic physician (kobiraj) at Hazipara area under Fatulla police station at night of May 27 in the district.
Victim’s father recorded a criminal case with Fatulla police station in this connection.
Police arrested the accused immediately who was identified as Abdur Rahim Pramanik, 58, son of Shafiuddin Pramanik, resident of Korjona village under Shahjadpur police station in Sirajganj district. He was tenant of Shahjahan Mia’s house at Hazipara and provided ayuevedic treatment widely known as a fake kobiraj.
Sub-inspector Shuvo Ahmed informed the media that the victim with her father went to the fake kobiraj to have treatment, and instead the girl was abused by the kobiraj.
The accused was sent to Narayanganj court and the victim’s physical examination was conducted in the government hospital immediately.
