Meherpur District BNP has taken a humanitarian step to support underprivileged and vulnerable people. On Friday at 9:30am, a day-long free medical camp and medicine distribution event was inaugurated at Mominpur Secondary School in Baradi Union, under Meherpur Sadar Upazila.
The programme was launched by Advocate Kamrul Hasan, General Secretary of Meherpur District BNP. Organising Secretary Omar Faruk Liton, Sadar Upazila BNP General Secretary Saidur Rahman, and other BNP leaders and activists participated in the camp.
A 10-member medical team, led by Dr Sajibul Islam, began offering free treatment from the morning, along with distributing necessary medicines to patients. The camp continued until 4pm.
Thousands of patients from distant areas came to receive medical services and expressed their satisfaction. Many urged that such initiatives be held more widely.
Advocate Kamrul Hasan stated that providing healthcare at people's doorsteps is one of the 31-point commitments of BNP’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman. He added that similar camps were held last week in Amda Union and this week in Baradi Union, with plans to organise another in the municipal area next week.
Dr Sajibul Islam shared that it was his parents' wish for him to serve the poor, and he aims to continue doing so.
