Media is spreading rumours: Tamim

Tamim Iqbal has alleged that the media is spreading confusion about him in the midst of the extremely hazy situation regarding the future of his International Twenty20 game. Tamim said he had raised several questions with the BCB about the T20, but did not raise any questions with the board.

Tamim went on a six-month break from T20 in January during the BPL. Before that, of course, he had not played T20 for Bangladesh since March 2020. In that sense, it is possible that the short version of his break was the culmination of his career.

As the six-month break draws to a close, BCB president Nazmul Hasan and cricket operations chairman Jalal Yunus say Tamim is unlikely to return to the T20s.

At a function in Dhaka on Sunday, a journalist asked Tamim about his plans for the T20. Tamim's response was vague and mysterious, 'I am not given a chance to tell you about my plan for T20. Either you (media) say it or someone else says it. So let's continue like this. I am not given a chance to say. I have been playing cricket for so long, it deserves what I don't think, it's heard from my mouth. But either you give an idea or someone else comes and tells you. I have nothing to say.

Tamim, who flew to the West Indies on a Monday night flight, wrote on his Facebook page at noon: In a program two days ago, I made it clear that I am not getting a chance to make my announcement, others are saying different things. The board has not communicated or contacted them here, I have never said anything like that.
