Media cooperation to eliminate drug abuse sought

The newly-appointed Superintendent of Police (SP) for Narail Md. Mehedi Hasan on Saturday sought cooperation of media workers to eliminate drugs in implementing the zero tolerance policy against drugs.

The SP made the call in a views-sharing meeting with local journalists from the print, electronic and online media at Police Super conference room in Narail District Town at 12:30 pm.

During the exchange of views, the overall law and order situation of the district, drugs, terrorism and various problems and possibilities were openly discussed. 

The SP said, that his first task will be to implement the zero tolerance policy for drug eradication with stakeholders at various levels in the society. Drugs will not be exempted in any way. Besides, they will try to prevent drug smuggling, terrorism and activities that cause deterioration of law and order with utmost importance, he added.

Terming journalism as the fourth pillar of the state, the SP said journalists always play a great role in improving the law and order situation in the society. Police should serve the people as their servants and it would be emphasized that no one is harassed unnecessarily specially thana. Additional Superintendent of Police Md.Anwar  Hossain,ASP Tarek Al Mehedi, ASP Md. Dolon Miah, DSB Inspector Mir Shariful Haque,DB Police Inspector Md.Chabbirul Alom, President of Narail Press Club Advocate Alomgir Siddique, its former president Enamul Kabir Tukyu,former vice president Sultan Mahmood among others were present in the programme.
