Meat price continues to rise in Meherpur

The price of meat is increasing in Meherpur. Along with beef, the price of chicken has also increased.

Beef has increased by Tk 50 and mutton by Tk 100 per kg in the last week. Ignoring the fixed price of the district administration, the meat sellers are setting the price as they want and selling it.

It is known that six months ago, the price of beef was fixed at Tk 700 per kg by the district and upazila administration.

A week before Ramadan, prices suddenly increase in the meat market. In particular, beef increased from Tk 650 to Tk 750.

At the same time, the price of mutton has increased by leaps and bounds. It has increased from 900 taka and now it is being sold at the rate of 1000 taka per kg.

Meanwhile, the price of golden, broiler and layer chickens has increased by Tk 20 per kg. At the same time, the price of domestic chicken has increased by Tk 50 per kg and is being sold at Tk 600.

Even though the meat sellers of various haat markets, including the district town, increase the price as they wish, the administration has no role to play.
