Measures taken for peaceful celebration of Durga Puja

Minister for Environment, Forests and Climate Change Md Shahab Uddin said the government has taken measures for peaceful celebration of the Durga Puja across the country.

The government is taking necessary steps as per the special instructions of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina so that the followers of Hindu religion of the country can perform puja peacefully.

The Environment Minister made the remarks while addressing a function as the chief guest at the Prime Minister's GR Rice Distribution Ceremony on the occasion of Durga Puja organized by Baralekha and Juri Upazila administrations of Moulvibazar district on Friday (October 8) afternoon.

The Environment Minister said the government under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working day and night to build the non-communal Bangladesh of the dream of the father of the nation. 

He said that religion helps people to develop as right people. If everyone adheres to their own religion, chaos and unrest will come down in the society.

Upazila Chairman Soyeb Ahmed, Baralekha Upazila Nirbahi Officer Khandaker Mudachir Bin Ali and former Chairman of Baralekha Upazila Parishad Rafiqul Islam Sundar were present in the auditorium of Baralekha Upazila Parishad.

Besides, Juri Upazila Chairman Bir Muktijoddha MA Moeed Faruk, Upa­zila Nirbahi Officer Sonia Sultana, Upazila Parishad Vice Chairman Rinku Ranjan Das and Women Vice Chairman Ranjita Sharma were present at Juri upazila auditorium. 

At that time, 500 kg of GR rice was distributed in 134 public puja mandaps of Baralekha upazila and 72 public puja mandaps of Juri upazila.
