Mayoral candidates get symbols in Jagannathpur

The Election Commission (EC) has allocated polls symbols to the four mayoral candidates in the by-polls of Jagannathpur Municipality. District returning officer Murad Uddin Howlader allotted electoral symbols to the mayoral candidates for contesting elections to Jagannathpur Municipality Election at Election Commission Office on Monday noon.

The four mayoral candidates for Jagannathpur Municipality Election are: mayoral candidate of the Awami League (AL), former chairman Mijanur Rashid Bhuiyan, has got the "boat" symbol; the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) candidate, Assistant-organizing secretary of BNP Raju Ahmed, got the "paddy sheaf" symbol; Independent candidate son of former mayor Abdul Mannaf Abul Hossain Selim, got the "Jug" symbol; Independent candidate BNP leader Abibul Bari Ayhan got the "Mobile Set" symbol.

District returning officer Murad Uddin Howlader said, we've allocated symbols among the four candidates for mayoral election. By-polls of Jagannathpur Municipality will be held on 29th March.  The Jagannathpur mayoral post fell vacant following the death of Abdul Monaf on January 11, 2020.
