Mayor sets up ‘Corona Prevention Booths’ in Cox’s Bazar

Cox's Bazar Municipality Mayor Mujibur Rahman has come up with an exceptional 'Corona Prevention Booths' for the use of common people like ATM booths. The booths will be set up in government and non-government institutions including hospitals and various places of public importance.

For the first time, the mayor has taken these initiatives with the aim of creating awareness among the common people. Cox's Bazar Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Mamunur Rashid inaugurated the 'Corona Prevention Booths' at Cox's Bazar Municipality premises on Friday morning.

Speaking as the chief guest, he said, ‘For the last one year we have been fighting against this invisible force. We hope to win this battle. So people should follow the hygiene rules to avoid Covid-19. People also should stay at home, use mask when they are out of the house for special needs. Washing hands with soap and water is also important. The Deputy Commissioner also called for maintaining social and physical distance.

During the inauguration, Mayor Mujibur Rahman said, "Covid-19 infection is on the rise in Cox's Bazar. Many fresh lives are being lost due to corona. Even in such a difficult situation, Cox's Bazar Municipality is carrying out various awareness activities in a planned manner to prevent Covid-19 virus. Besides, food items are being distributed every day among the helpless citizens affected by the floods and jobless people in Corona. The first corona prevention booth has been brought in the district for the citizens to make the general public health conscious. As a pilot project, initially 10 'Corona Prevention Booths' will be set up at important places including various government and non-government organizations. 

The number of booths will be increased in phases, the mayor said.

Cox's Bazar Municipality Chief Executive Officer AKM Tariqul Alam, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Amin Al Parvez, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Nu Emang Marma Mong, Councilor Akhtar Kamal, Cox's Bazar Municipality Executive Engineer Mohammad Nurul Alam, Deputy Assistant Engineer Titan Das, Administrative Officer. Khorshed Alam and public relations officer Ahsan Sumon and many others were present.
