In the final match of Mayor's Cup T20 cricket tournament organized by Meherpur Municipality marking ‘Mujib Barsho’, the 7th Ward Tigers defeated the 3rd Ward Riders by 131 runs on the Victory Day on Wednesday.
In the final match, scoring 60 runs from 28 balls Jiko from the 7th Ward Tigers became the man of the match.
Marking the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the Mayor's Cup T20 Cricket-2020 was organized for the first time with 9 wards of the municipal area at the initiative of Municipal Mayor Mahfuzur Rahman Riton.
The mayor said that the tournament was organized to protect the youth of the municipal area from drug addiction. People's interest in sports and the number of the sport spectators are decreasing day by day in Meherpur.
This Mayor's Cup T20 cricket was the best tournament in the history of Mehpur. Such a big and popular cricket tournament has never been held before in Meherpur. Through this tournament, open development will take place among the youth of the municipal area.
Prizes were distributed at the end of the final match. Meherpur Sadar Upazila Chairman and Municipal Awami League President Adv. Yarul Islam was present at the prize giving ceremony.
