Mayor of Chattogram City Corporation and city unit Awami League General Secretary AJM Nasir Uddin expressed the hope that he would extend his full cooperation in organising book fair in the future as wells. The mayor made the call while addressing a ceremony of the Great Ekushey Memorial Award and Literary Award at the CJKS Gymnasium at MA Aziz Stadium on Friday night.
CCC Chief Executive Officer Md. Samsuddoha presided over the meeting, and CCC chief education officer Suman Barua delivered the welcome address. Chattogram Press Club President Ali Abbas, CCC Panel Mayor Chowdhury Hasan Mahmood Hasani, CCC Ekushey Book Fair Convener Nazmul Haque Duke spoke on the occasion.
The mayor said, “I will expire as mayor on next August 04. In the last mayoral election, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina nominated me as mayor. I was elected by the people's vote. I am grateful to the Prime Minister. I am a native of this city. I was born in this city. I will always stay beside the city dweller. I owe a lot to the town people”. The mayor said the book fair had double stalls this time. This year's book fair has got rid of past mistakes.
