MAUSHI orders sealing off 44 risky educational buildings

The Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (MAUSHI) has ordered the immediate vacating and sealing or demolition of 44 'high risk' buildings belonging to various educational institutions in and around the capital within seven days. The order comes after Rajuk's recommendation and in response to the identified risks these buildings pose to students and staff.

The list of 'high risk' buildings includes Badda Alatunnecha Higher Secondary School, Alatunnecha Higher Secondary School and College, Savar Bhakurta Government High School, Narayanganj Delpara Government High School, Dhaka Collegiate School, Dania University College, Mirpur-1 Govt Bangla College, Narayanganj Govt Kadam Rasul College, Gazipur Govt Kaliganj Sramik College, Demrar Haider Ali School and College, Haji Ali Hossain High School, Mirpur No. 13, Kabi Nazrul Government College, Sutrapur, Kaliganj RRN Public High School, Gazipur, Keraniganj Girls School and College, Khilgaon Government High School, Karatitola CMS High School, Sayedabad, Dhaka, Narayanganj Government Girls High School, Narayanganj Government Women's College, Shaheed Zia Girls School & College, Jatrabari, Shyamalnagar School & College, Bhakurta, Savar, Tejgaon Model High School, AKK High School & Bright College, Kadamtali, AKM Rahmatullah University College, Badda, KM Mainuddin High School, Kadamtali Adarsh High School (Mithab), Agrani School and College in Azimpur, Ahmed Bawani Academy in Kotwali Thana, Ali Ahmed School and College in Gogan, Arambagh High School in Paltan, and Anandamoyi Girls' School in Lalbagh.

MAUSHI has emphasized that the consulting firm engaged under the project titled 'Urban Resilience Project: Rajuk Part' has recommended the demolition of the 'high risk' buildings owned by various government, semi-government, and autonomous organizations in the Dhaka Metropolitan Development Project-DMDP area, including the 'high risk' buildings on the RAJUK list under the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education. 

The move by MAUSHI to order the vacating and sealing or demolition of these buildings is aimed at ensuring the safety of students and staff in these educational institutions. The affected institutions are expected to comply with the directive and take necessary measures to address the issue.
