Mass vaccination for 2nd dose starts today

The mass inoculation of second dose for Covid-19 starts today. The decision was taken at a meeting through videoconferencing on Monday. The meeting was chaired by Prime Minister's Chief Secretary Dr Ahmed Kaikaus. 

As per the decision, those who got the first dose on 7 and 8 August will be able to get the second dose at the same center today.

Besides, those who received the first dose on 11 and 12 August will get the second dose on 9 September (Thursday).

In areas not in city corporations, people can get 2nd dose on September 7 (Tuesday) if they received the first dose on 7 August from the same center.

Earlier on 23 August, the government halted mass vaccination drives due to shortage of vaccines. 

Around 1.66 crore citizens are on the second shot waiting list, while 1.5 crore people after online registration are yet to get the first shot.

The meeting held through video conference was participated, among others, by the mayors of all the City Corporations, Chief Coordinators (SDG Affairs) of all City Corporations, Senior Secretary of Information and Communication Technology Department, Senior Secretary of Public Security Department, Senior Secretary of Local Government Department, Senior Secretary of Health Services Department, Director General of Health Department, All Divisional Commissioners, all Police Commissioners , All Range DIGs, all Deputy Commissioners, all Civil Surgeons and concerned government officials at the field levels.
