Bangladesh and Minister Dhaka pacer Mashrafe Mortaza will miss the first two matches of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), it was confirmed by Dhaka’s captain Mahmudullah Riyad on Thursday.

The 38-year-old pacer returned to practice with a back injury on 6th January, as he could not recover from the old back injury, he will not take part in the first two games.

“Mashrafe flourish the pace bowling unit. His experience comes in handy considering the condition. But I don't think we will get him in the first two matches. I hope he will play in the third match,” said Mahmudullah.

Speaking on the sidelines of practice at the academy ground of Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Thursday, Mahmudullah said, “We did not live up to our expectations of the World Cup. As a team we had a lot of expectations. After playing two good series, we went there with confidence. We lost two very close mathces. '

'There is another World Cup ahead, another chance. The team management may also think about the formation, because the conditions will be different. Maybe there will be an excess of pace bowling all-rounders, there will be more need for wrist spinners. We all have these things in our heads. Those who will perform (BPL) will have a chance. - The captain added.
