Martyred Intellectual Day observed at IU

The authorities of Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia observed ‘Martyred Intellectual Day’ in a befitting manner on the campus on Wednesday, to remember the intellectuals who are brutally killed by the Pakistanis forces and their collaborates on this day in 1971. 

Marking the day, IU Pro-vice Chancellor Professor Dr M Mahbubur Rahman hoisted the national flag at half-must while treasurer Professor Dr Alamgir Hossain Bhuiya hoisted the black flag in front of the university’s administrative building around 10:00am.  

Later, a mourning procession was brought out led by its Pro-vice Chancellor while treasurer, registrar HM Ali Hasan, teachers, students were present. The procession ended at the memorial monument of the university. 

IU authorities, IUTA, Bangabandhu Parishad, Bangabandhu Parishad Teachers Unit, BCL unit, Shapla forum,  Zia Parishad, IUJA, different departments, halls and other organizations of teachers, students and officials placed floral wreaths at the feet of the university’s memorial monument. 

In the morning, the hall provosts of the different residential halls hoisted the national flag at half-must and black flag atop their respective halls. 

Earlier, IU Pro-vice Chancellor and treasurer inaugurated the candlelight vigil on the feet of ‘Mrittunjoyee Mujib Moral’ and ‘Memorial Monument’ on the campus around yesterday midnight to mark the day.
