Narayanganj Highway police in a raid at Kanchpur area on Dhaka-Chattogram highway on Wednesday arrested a husband and rescued his minor wife from a Chattogram bound bus that travelled from Bogura.
The arrested husband is identified as Abdur Razzak,45, son of Dholu Pramanik, of Shakpara village under Shajahanpur police station of Bogura and the rescued minor girl is identified as Tania, 12, of the same area.
Officer in Charge of Kanchpur Highway police station Moniruzzaman said they were informed that an adult man marrying after a minor girl fled from Bogura by a Chattogram bound bus of Hanif transport. Then police set up a check post on the road and searched every bus. Later, they rescued the girl and arrested her husband.
The rescued minor girl was handed over to her guardians and a criminal case was filed with Shajahanpur police station under women and children repression prevention act by Police.
