On the occasion of International Mountain Day on December 11, Bandarban Hill District Council organized a marathon running competition.
On Sunday (December 11) at 7:30 am, a marathon race was organized in Bandarban on the occasion of International Mountain Day. The contestants covered 18 km from Bandarban - Chittagong highway Baitul Izzat to Bandarban Raja ground.
The competitors started at 7:30 and finished the race at 9:50 on the King's Field. Abdullah Al Noman was the first to finish in one hour and thirty-five minutes.
Mohammad Kaushar finished second in one hour and forty-three minutes and Md. Rubel was third in one hour and forty-six minutes. 1st prize 5000 taka and certificate, 2nd prize 3000 taka and certificate, 3rd prize 2000 taka and certificate also special prizes were given to seven contestants. 17 contestants participated in the competition.
Contestant Major Mosleh Uddin said he thanked the Bandarban Hill District Council for organizing a wonderful event on the occasion of International Mountain Day.
Chief Executive Officer of Bandarban Hill District Council, ATM Kaushar, attended the competition as the chief guest and distributed prizes to the winners at Bandarban Raja Field.
He said that the people of 11 small ethnic groups live in Bandarban Hill District, the mountains, agriculture and culture are very good. Bandarban Hill District Council organizes various sports and cultural events, like every year this year also organized mini marathon on the occasion of International Mountain Day on 11th December.
He thanked everyone who participated. Members of Bandarban Hill District Council Lakshi Pad Das, Mozammel Haque Bahadur, Singh Young Mro, Administrative Officer Uching Mong Marma, Press Club President Aminul Islam Bachchu, General Secretary Minarul Haque and others were also present in the ceremony.
