A Kurigram court on Tuesday sentenced a man to death for killing his wife at Char Rajibpur upazila in the district.
Judge of Kurigram District and Sessions Judge's Court Abdul Mannan delivered the verdict. Public Prosecutor (PP) of Kurigrma Abraham Lincoln confirmed the matter.
According to the case statement, Bakul Miah of Rajibpur upazila strangled his wife Shahina Begum following a dispute between them over his extramarital affair on December 2 in 2007.
After killing Shahina Begum, murder husband Bakul Miah hanged the body and tried to show that his wife died by suicide but autopsy reports later revealed she was strangled to death.
The victim’s father Shamsul Haque filed a murder case against two including Bakul Miah. After a 13-year trial, the court delivered the verdict.
The court acquitted the other accused of the case.
