Man throws acid on newly divorced wife

An agitated husband severely burnt and injured his wife by throwing acid on her face as she divorced her husband at Kamardaha village under Boraigram Upazila of Natore district on Monday evening. Police, however, arrested the husband from neighbouring Moukhara area of Natore.  

According to sources, as a sequel of family feud, housewife Nargis Akhter Nupur, 28, daughter of Tayez Uddin of Karmadaha village divorced her husband Abu Taleb, 36, and went to her parents' house from her husband's house at Ahmmedpur in Natore on last Thursday. Being enraged, Taleb went to the house of his wife Nupur and threw acid on her face injuring her critically. She has been admitted to Sheikh Hasina National Burn and Plastic Unit in Dhaka in a critical condition.

Police and the father of Nupur informed Abu Taleb married Nupur seven year ago. But, after marriage, Nupur came to learn that her husband was a fugitive accused in various cases and he went on hiding soon after the marriage. Being frustrated with the activities of Taleb, Nupur returned to her parents' house by divorcing her husband on Thursday last. 

Being informed, Taleb became angry and he went to his father-in-law's house on Monday night and managed to escape from there by throwing acid on the face of Nupur. Hearing the piercing cry, family members and neighbours rushed to the spot and took to her to the local Health Complex but her condition deteriorated there when she was shifted to Sheikh Hasina National Burn and Plastic Unit in Dhaka.

On the other hand, being informed, police arrested Abu Taleb from Moukhara Bazaar area of Boraigram upazila the same night. 

Physician of the local Health Complex informed, the sort of acid has been throwing on the face of Nupur will not damage the skin of her face but that would damage her eyes. 

Anowarul Islam, Officer-in-charge of Boriagram Police station informed arrested Abu Taleb is being interrogated and he was sent to jail through the court on Tuesday.
