Police on Tuesday arrested a man and his son reportedly for killing a neighbor at Paikgacha upazila in Khulna district on Monday night. The victim was identified as Kushilal Mondal,70, a resident of Krishnanagar villahe under the upazila. Meanwhile, the arrested are the victim's elder brother Ranjit Mondal, 79, and Gobinda Mondal, 55, both residents of the same village.
Quoting the case statement, Paikgacha Police Station OC Obaidur Rahman said there had been a longstanding dispute between the victim and his brother over a piece of a land. As sequel to it, they both locked into an argument on Monday night and at one stage of the fight, Ranjit Mondal and his son Gobinda Mondal started beating the victim, leaving him dead on the spot.
Later, the victim's son Krishna Mondal lodged a murder case with Paikgacha Police Station accusing four people.
Legal action was underway in this regard, added the OC.
