Man punched to death by younger cousin over trivial dispute

A man died after being punched by his younger cousin brother in Ahmedpur village of Laurfatehpur union under Nabinagar upazila in Brahmanbaria on Friday afternoon.

The incident took place over a trivial dispute about distributing Tabarak in Jumma prayers. The name of the deceased is Md. Hebju Mia Sarkar, 55, son of Monir Hassan Sarkar. 

According to locals, Mamun Sarkar, 35, son of deceased's uncle Amir Hossain Sarkar was scolded by his elder cousin Hebju Mia while distributing Tabarak during Jumma prayers. 

Later, Mamun Sarkar attacked his elder cousin's (uncle's) house in the afternoon and punched him. When the elder cousin fell to the ground, he was rushed to Nabinagar Sadar Hospital where the doctor on duty declared him dead. 

Acting doctor Dr. Iftiar Uddin said he died on the spot and was brought to the hospital dead. Nabinagar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (Investiga­tion) Ruhul Amin said the body was sent to the district morgue for autopsy.
