Model Group Chairman Masuduzzaman Masud, who allegedly was a trusted man of much-talked about Awami League leader in Narayanganj Shamim Osman, has recently joined with the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).
The incident has now become one of the most talked about matters of discussion among the people of Narayanganj, specially, to the leaders and activists of BNP.
He is now claiming himself to be a man of reformist. Not only that, he has now been talking against Awami League randomly with an intension of proving himself as an anti-Awami Leaguer.
He officially joined with the BNP on Wednesday. According to the official Facebook page of the BNP media cell, on the occasion of his joining with the BNP, a grand function was also held at the Party's central office at Nayapaltan in the capital city of Dhaka.
Masud joined with the BNP by handing over a bouquet to the party's Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi. BNP’s another Joint Secretary General Advocate Abdus Salam Azad, Organising Secretary (Dhaka Division) Sayedul Alam Babul, Dhaka Divisional Assistant-Organising Secretary Benazir Ahmed Tito, Narayanganj Metropolitan unit BNP Convener Advocate Sakhawat Hossain, former MP Mohammad Gias Uddin, Central Executive Committee member and Narayanganj District Joint Convener Mustafizur Rahman Dipu Bhuiyan, District Joint Convener Masukul Islam Rajib, Narayanganj Metropolitan Joint Convener Anwar Hossain Anu, former Metropolitan Convener Monirul Islam Robi and Metropolitan BNP Member Secretary Abu Al Yusuf Khan Tipu, among others, were also present in the function.
A large number of leaders and activists of Narayanganj District and Metropolitan uniits of BNP as its different affiliated bodies were also present there.
It is known to all that Masud's father was a leader of the Awami League. He and his father both were very close to the Osman family.
Ajmeri Osman, son of Nasim Osman and accused in several cases including the much-talked about murder of Tanvir Mohammad Twaki, was very friendly to Masud.
Masud had been used to pay Ajmeri Osman Tk 50 lakhs per month to get various benefits from the Osman family. That is why none dared to say anything against Masud.
According to locals, Masud is now getting prepared to run the election for Narayanganj-5 constituency in exchange of huge money to some influential leaders of the BNP. He is now controlling over Narayanganj by paying a large amount of money to a powerfull local leader of BNP.
But, at a recent event, Narayanganj Metropolitan BNP convener Advocate Sakhawat Hossain Khan and several other BNP leaders said that Masud was never a man of BNP. He was a close aid of Osman family and former Law Minister Anisul Haque.
Local residents of Narayanganj said, despite being a man of Awami fascism, Masud is introducing itself as a BNP man. He is misleading the people, which will harm not only the party, but also create misconceptions among the locals. Therefore, they demanded immediate expulsion of such a 'hybrid BNP' man from the party.
BNP leaders and activists and local residents drew the attention of BNP acting chairman Tarek Rahman so that Masud be expelled from all posts of BNP immediately.
