A man is believed to have committed suicide after killing his child in Tongi upazila early on Wednesday.
Abdul Halim, 32, was found hanging from grill of his rented flat in Hajibari area in the Gazipur city. His mentally challenged son Noman, 8 was also found strangled to death.
Police and locals said Abdul Halim resided with his family at the rented flat of one Shahzada Alam's building in Hajibari area of Tongi. He had three children and wife in his family. Abdul Halim felt frustrated due to his inability to meet up livelihoods.
Md Kamal Hossain, officer-in-charge of Tongi East Police Station, told Banglanews that Halim might have strangled his son and then committed suicide over frustration around 2am.
Noticing the incident, wife shouted and called neighbours. Later, on information, police rushed to the spot and sent the bodies to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
