One person was killed and another injuried when a gas cylinder exploded in Manikganj while inflating balloons on the occasion of Victory Day on Saturday.
The incident took place on the ground floor of the Deputy Commissioner's office early on Saturday (December 16).
Habil Hossain, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sadar police station confirmed the matter.
The deceased was identified as Anwar Bapari (50), son of Kawsar Bepari of Arokandi village under Kotwali police station in Faridpur district.
He was a balloon trader. The injured person is Kabir Hossain (23), son of Atar Ali of Paschim Shanbandha village of Manikganj Sadar Upazila. He is undergoing treatment at the 250-bed General Hospital of the district.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Manikganj police station said that the two balloon sellers were inflating balloons for the Victory Day ceremony on the ground floor of the Deputy Commissioner's office early in the morning. One person was killed due to cylinder explosion.
