A man was killed as an easy bike hit an engine-run van near Kashempur brick kiln on Satkhira-Boikari road under Sadar Upazila of Satkhira on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Tarok Chandra Das, 60, son of Pachu Das, resident of Babulia village under Agardari union in Sadar Upazila of the district.
Quoting witnesses, police said Tarok Chandra Das and two others going to Satkhira from Babulia by an engine-run van. An easy bike hit the engine-run van from back side near Kashempur brick kiln on Satkhira-Boikari road under Sadar Upazila. The engine-run van carrying them turned turtle in the area, leaving Tarok Das injured critically. He was taken to Sadar Hospital where he succumbed to his injury after a while.
On-duty doctor at emergency department of Sadar Hospital, Dr Aktar Maruf, confirmed the matter and said Tarok Das died after a short time of being admitted in the hospital.
Satkhira Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) Nazrul Islam confirmed the matter.
