Grandfather was killed by his grandson over a land dispute in Katiadi upazila of Kishoreganj district. The incident took place at Bhangnadi Nayapara village in Chandpur union of the upazila on Friday (July 24) evening. The deceased was identified as Saiful Islam Babul (65) son of late Haji Ahad Ali of Bhangnadi Nayapara village under Chandpur union of Katiadi upazila.
According to police sources, there was a long-running family dispute over land. Bakhtiyar went fishing from the river through that border last Thursday night. At this time, when Bakhtiyar's grandfather saw him, he wanted to know why he came through the border. The next day, on Friday evening, Saiful Islam Babul fell to the ground when he was hit on the head with a local weapon during a fight near his house. He was rushed to Bhagalpur Zahirul Islam Medical College Hospital in critical condition and was declared dead by the on-duty doctor.
Katiadi Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) MA Jalil said the body of the deceased had been sent to Kishoreganj morgue for autopsy. A murder case has been filed in this regard. The operation to arrest the killers is continuing.
