Man jailed for selling migratory birds

A hunter named Sanu Mia, 30, was sentenced for 15 days imprisonment by a mobile court at Jagannathpur upazila in Sunamganj on Monday morning. 

He was detained from the Pouro point in the town along with 15 migratory birds. Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Jagannathpur Mahfuzul Alam Masum led the mobile court and awarded the punishment. 

The convict is the son of Sanai Mia of Sherpur village. 

The locals said, Sanu Mia hunted 15 migratory birds illegally and went to Pouro point to sell them. On information UNO and Judge of the Mobile Court, Mahfuzul Alam Masum rushed there and brought Sanu Mia to the UNO office. Later, the mobile court sentenced him there. The man was handed over to Jagannathpur Police Station. 

Sub-Inspector of Jagannathpur Police station said, the man was sent to Sunamganj prison. UNO Mahfuzul Alam Masum confirming the news and  said that  the migratory birds were released in the upazila parisha pond.
