Man held with huge spurious drinks, syrup in Rajshahi

Detectives of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) arrested a person with huge spurious drinks and sex-stimulating syrup from a shop in Rajshahi city on Thursday night. The arrested person has been identified as Abdul Hamid Khan Sujon, 45, son of late Kobad Ali, of Mahisbathan area under Rajpara Police Station in the metropolis.

On a tip-off, a team of the Detective Branch (DB) conducted a sudden raid in the Sumaiya Enterprize shop at Haragram New Market around 8.30 pm. Subsequently, the team seized huge contraband items valued around Taka 2.20 lakh from his possession.

Referring to the confessional statement of the arrested person, DB Deputy Commissioner Arefin Jewel said he was involved in selling different spurious and contraband items for a long time in accomplice with two other persons identified as Belal Hossain and Raj Ahmed.

"We are conducting raids to bring the absconding persons to books as early as possible," the police officer added.
