An alleged top-listed firearm trader was held in an anti-crime drive by members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) with a foreign pistol in the metropolis on Sunday night.
The arrested was identified as Arif Islam, 32, son of Shariful Islam of Yousufpur Kandipara village under Charghat Upazila in the district, RAB sources said here. On a tip-off, a team of the elite force conducted a drive at Chalk Kapasia area under Katakhali Police Station Station in Rajshahi metropolis arrested him.
The operation team recovered a foreign made pistol, two rounds of bullets and a magazine from his possession, according to the RAB sources.
The RAB team detained the person for his long-term involvement in firearms and drugs trading and trafficking.
In another anti-crime drive, another RAB team arrested an alleged drug peddler identified as Sohel Rana, 30, son of Enamul Haque with 200 grams of heroin from Taltala area under Godagari Upazila in the district around 9.15 pm.
Two separate cases were recorded with the respective police stations in these connections and the arrested persons, along with the seized goods, were handed over to police, the sources added.
