Man held with 6 gold bars in Benapole

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested a man along with six gold bars, weighing 700 gram, from Putkhali border area of Benapole early Friday.

The arrestee was Monor Uddin, 31, son of Kodor Ali.

Lt Col Khurshid Anwar, Commander of BGB-21 Battalion in Khulna, said that acting on a tip-off, a BGB team a drive at Putkhali Moshjidbari check post.  They stopped easy-bike and searched it but nothing was found.

Due to his suspicious behavior, he was later taken to a local hospital for scanning and the six gold bars were found in his anus, BGB official said.

The estimated market value of the seized gold is worth Tk 70 lakh.

The accused was handed over to Benapole Port Police Station for legal action, he added.
