Man held with 28 gold bars in Ctg airport

Twenty-eight gold bars have been recovered from a Saudi expatriate bag at Chittagong Shah Amanat International Airport.  During the scanning of the airport bags, they were found to be in existence, said Chattogram Customs.

Customs officials rescued them from a passenger named Shafi Alam around 11am on Sunday. Shafi's house is in Eidgah area of Cox's Bazar.  He is a Saudi expatriate.  He was a passenger of Biman Bangla­desh Airlines BG-136 flight from Jeddah at Shah Amanat International Airport.

The matter was confirmed by Deputy Commissioner of Customs Md. Niyamul Hasan. He said that during the scanning, a metal object was found in the passenger's bag.  In this case, the process of taking action under customs law is going on.
