A housewife, 35, has been raped at Keshabpur upazila in Jashore. Police arrested accused Abu Syed, 33, son of Abdul Hannan Sardar of Vaina village, on Monday night.
The incident took place at Verchi village of the upazila on Sunday night. The victim filed a case against four people with Keshabpur police station on Monday night.
Police said that Abu Syed called her on Sunday night to take medicine from the village doctor for her son and was taken to Dangir Beel in nearby Verchi village. Sirajul Islam forcibly raped the housewife with the help of his friends there.
The housewife filed the case against Sirajul Islam, 33, son of Barek Sheikh of Gaurighona Sannyasgachha village of the upazila, Jasim Uddin, 32, son of Latif Sardar of Sannyasgachha village, Abu Saeed, 33, son of Abdul Hannan Sardar of Vaina village and Siddiqur Rahman, son of Siddiqur Ali of Kashimpur village in this connection.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Keshabpur Police Station Jasim Uddin said Abu Sayed said that one of the accused in the rape case has been arrested. The victim was taken to Jashore Medical College Hospital for physical examination.
