A court in Narail on Wednesday convicted a man and sentenced him to life term imprisonment on charge of his involvement in Ismail alias Thandu murder case of six years ago. The court also fined him taka 50,000, in default, to suffer six months more jail.
District and Session Judge of Narail Munshi Md Moshier Rahman pronounced the verdict in presence of convict in the court.
The convict was identified as Syed Palash alias Palash Mina son of Shajahan Mina resident of Itna village in Lohagora upazila of Narail district. Public Prosecutor of Narail judge court Md Emdadul Islam confirmed the matter.
The prosecution story, in brief, is that Syed Palash alias Palash Mina called Ismail alias Thandu Sardar on his mobile phone on January 22, 2016 evening and Thandu did not return home that night.
The next day, on January 23 at around 12pm, the body of Thandu was found lying in a field adjacent to Itna Girls High School.
Thandu's mother Mst Golapi Begum filed a murder case against Syed Palash alias Palash Mina in Lohagora thana.
Later, accused Syed Palash alias Palash Mina gave a confessional statement in the court. Police submitted charge sheet accusing Palash Mina. After examining the record and testimony of 10 witnesses, district and session judge handed down the verdict in a crowded court.
