A 55-year-old man died with coronavirus symptoms at the isolation ward of Shariatpur Sadar Hospital on Thursday. The deceased was identified as Mozammel Munshi of Sureshwar village of Naria upazila in district.
Dr Md Abdur Rashid of Civil Surgeon office of Sharitpur conformed the matter. He said that Mozammel Munshi was admitted at the isolation ward of the hospital with fever, cough and breathing problems on May 24.
Later, his sample was sent to the International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research, Bangladesh (icddr,b) for Covid-19 test.
It was known that the man returned to his village from Dhaka on May 19. After four days, he went to Shariatpur Sadar Hospital seeking treatment.
The body was buried by the Islamic Foundation following the guidelines set by the World Health Organisation (WHO).
