A young man named Salman (24) committed suicide in the early hours of Monday in Banka village's West Para, Jibannagar upazila, Chuadanga. His body was found hanging inside his home around 2:30am. Salman was the son of Alomgir from the same village.
His mother, Saleha, said Salman had been mentally unstable and behaved abnormally. He had two sons, aged eight and three. Following family disputes, his wife and children had been living at her parents’ home in Goalpra village for the past three months.
On the night of the incident, Salman returned home, locked himself in a room, and later took his life. His mother saw him through a window and alerted locals, who broke in and recovered his body.
His wife, Sonia Khatun, stated that Salman had long battled addiction and mental health issues, often resorting to violence. Police are investigating the matter, said OC Mamun Hossain Biswas.
