A man has attempted to commit suicide after killing his wife at Kachua in Bagerhat on Wednesday night. The incident took place at the husband’s home at Madhabakathi village at the upazila over family dispute. The deceased was identified as Minara Begum 45, wife of Paevez Shikder of the village. Minara’s body was recovered and sent to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy. Police, however, detained Parvez Shikdar and sent him to Kachua Upazila Health Complex for treatment.
Vctim's sister Munni Begum said that Minara used to run the family through Kabiraji treatment. Her husband was unemployed. There was a quarrel between them for not earning. Minara was often beaten in this way. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kachua Police Station Sheikh Shafiqur Rahman said that Parvez Sikder beat his wife with a hammer over family dispute. Later, he tried to commit suicide by drinking pesticides. Police rescued Parvez Shikder and admitted him to Kachua Upazila Health Complex.
The victim's brother Obaidul filed a murder case with the Kachua police station in this regard.
