A man was detained by RAB from Munshibari area in Faridpur on Wednesday on charge of killing his wife.
The detainee is identified as Rasel Islam, 24, resident of Rowakuli village under Alamdanda upazila of Chuadanga district.
His wife was Shila Khatun, 22, resident of Baliyapur area in Alamdanga upazila.
The Company Commander (Additional Superintendent of Police) of Meherpur CPC-3 under RAB-12, Ashrafullah, confirmed the matter on Thursday noon.
It was learnt that, Rasel hacked her wife Shila to death and left her body in a railway track.
RAB said Shila was married to Rasel nearly four years ago. Since the marriage, Shila faced various forms of abuse from her husband’s family, who demanded dowry. An argument broke out between Shila and her husband Rasel on October 21. At one point, Rasel killed his wife with a sharp weapon and disposed of her body in the middle of the railway tracks near Munshiganj Railway Station in the darkness of the night. Following this incident, Shila Khatun's brother filed a murder case at the Poradah railway police station.
After the case was filed, RAB conducted a drive in Munshibari area in Faridpur and detained him from there. Company Commander Ashrafullah said Rasel was detained in a joint drive conducted by Faridpur CPC-3 under RAB-10 and Meherpur CPC-3 under RAB-12. Later, he was handed over to Poradah railway police station.
