‘Make a habit to wash hands frequently’

Chattogram Divisional Commissioner ABM Azad called upon everyone from children to make it a habit to wash their hands frequently. There is no substitute for improved sanitation to build a healthy nation.

He was speaking as the chief guest at a divisional level discussion meeting held at Chittagong Circuit House on Tuesday on the occasion of National Sanitation Month October and World Hand Washing Day.

ABM Azad said open toilets are the source of all diseases. Frequent bowel movements are a serious health risk. Use hygienic sanitary toilets. Public toilets in the area should always be kept healthy. It will be possible to ensure 100% sanitation system if the concerned organizations including City Corporation and WASA work together. Divisional commissioner said that hand sanitizers including masks must be worn on the face to protect against the risk of corona virus.

If you want to build a germ-free life, you have to keep the wash room, latrine, basin and other things clean and tidy. Even dishes have to be washed with 100% pure water.

He said that brushing teeth before and after meals, cutting nails at the right time, taking a bath, wearing clean clothes and keeping oneself clean can provide 80-90 percent cure for various diseases. There is no substitute for cleanliness to build a healthy life. Foods that are not safe for the body cannot be eaten.

Department of Public Health Engineering, Chittagong Hill Tracts Circle Supervising Engineer Md. Zahir Uddin Dewan presided over the function, Conducted by Social Development Officer of Public Health Engineering Department Engineer Md. Golam Morshed, Additional Divisional Commissioner (Development) Md. Mizanur Rahman, Chittagong District Council Chief Executive Officer Md. Shabbir Iqbal, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Overall) AZM Sharif Hossain were special guests in the discussion meeting.

Public Health Engineering Department Executive Engineer Sumon Roy gave a welcome address on the topic of Sanitation Month October and Hand Washing through Multimedia. Islamic Foundation Divisional Director Borhan Uddin Md. Abu Hasan and Assistant District Primary Education Officer Hrishikesh Shil spoke on the occasion.
